I was, for many years, the Senior Partner of Leonard Gray Solicitors, a well established and respected firm in Chelmsford, Essex where I spent nearly 25 years dealing with high net worth individuals and their estate planning needs. I have dealt with the administration of hundreds of estates ranging from those of a very modest value to those worth millions of pounds. I am a Private Client Solicitor with 25 years of experience in looking after clients in this field. Private Client work covers a large number of areas including Will drafting, estate/Probate administration, Inheritance Tax advice, preparation and registration of Lasting Powers of Attorney, trust administration and various other areas.
I have been the Senior Partner of Leonard Gray Solicitors in Chelmsford, Essex and have acted for a large number of high net worth clients over the course of time, many of who have not had simple or easy situations to cater for. I have drafted thousands of Wills, have dealt with hundreds of estates and really enjoy ensuring that clients are properly looked after in the best way that leaves nothing to chance.
I have acted for a large variety of clients over the course of time including multi-millionaires, farmers, business owners and those of more modest means.
My experience
In the past few years, I have done the following:
- I have regularly advised high net worth individuals regarding estate planning matters.
- I have regularly acted for clients with estate values of £2M-5M. I have also acted for clients with estates of £10M or more.
- I have carried out Court of Protection work of all varieties including Deputyship applications, Statutory Wills and Codicils. I recently acted on behalf of Deputy in application for a Statutory Will where estate was worth £2.5M and involving numerous charities, family members and Official Solicitor.
- I have previously acted for the executors in reported case of Oakley & Anor v Inland Revenue [2005].
- I have acted as trustee in a £4M discretionary trust where matters were very contentious between all 3 beneficiaries, overseeing a resolution between them.
- I have acted as Wills Probate Solicitor Essex continuously and for the last 25 years.
- I have advised on the application of Agricultural Property Relief and Business Property Relief many times both in context of estate planning and making claims post death with HMRC.
- In the past few years, I have successfully argued with HMRC for the application of Business Property Relief in a probate matter involving livery stables, which was initially denied, resulting in a saving of over £500K for client (based on the principles discussed in HMRC v The Personal Representative of Maureen Vigne).
